Endodontics for tooth health
Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the removal of dental pulp and sealing of root canals.
Endodontic treatment, also called root canal, removes the degenerated pulp to prevent infection from spreading, leading to tooth loss. The pulp can degenerate for several reasons: deep caries, mechanical trauma, and even a severe periodontal infection. The services we perform in this field are as follows:
Endodontic treatment (also called root canal ): consists of removing the degenerated pulp to prevent infection from spreading, leading to tooth loss. Endodontic retreatment of a tooth already treated: procedure that aims to make an improvement compared to the initial therapy, shaping, cleaning and filling the portions that may have not been treated in the first instance and eliminating the causes that led to the failure of primary endodontics.
Reconstruction of the 'core' (central core of the tooth) and preparation and insertion of endodontic posts; surgical interventions for resolution periapical lesions (granulomas). Every time a tooth suffers damage that reaches the sensitive structures that compose it (dentin, pulp and periodontium), it creates an infectious process due to the lowering of the tooth's immune defenses, which opens the tooth up to risks from action of bacteria that are normally present in the mouth of each individual.
The human body then implements "defense" mechanisms through its own immune system, producing a barrier (the periapical lesion) that prevents the spread of bacteria from the tooth to the whole organism, thus avoiding their diffusion and replication. Although produced for "protective" purposes by the body, these lesions can evolve over time into more important traumas such as cysts (cavities filled with liquid and usually larger than granulomas, whose wall is internally made up of epithelial tissue and externally connective) which can cause further damage to the bone in where the tooth is housed (alveolus), causing its loss.
